Why Delivery Specs Matter for Broadcast and Paid Media

A commercial can look excellent in the edit suite and still be rejected by a broadcaster, media agency, or digital platform. Delivery specifications are part of production, not an administrative step after the creative work is...

Delivery specs are not paperwork after the creative work is done. They decide whether the finished piece can actually air, publish, run as paid media or pass review.

Delivery starts with the technical path: cameras, audio, monitoring, file handling, aspect ratios, captions and the destination the work has to reach.

Broadcast, social, paid media and internal platforms may each need different durations, frame sizes, safe areas, audio levels, codecs, captions, clocks, slates, filenames and approval steps. If those needs are discovered only after the edit is locked, the production may not have captured enough flexibility.

A simple delivery matrix protects the finish. It tells the shoot what space to leave for graphics, what audio has to be clean, which versions are needed and what technical details cannot be guessed at the end.
