What the project needed.
Support an ABC profile of athlete Brent Fikowski connected to wider questions surrounding CrossFit, athlete safety and the death of a fellow competitor.
What had to work.
The primary interview environment was beside a busy roadway and was not sound insulated. The day also needed domestic, training, driving and aerial material without identifying private location details.
How KFS handled it.
KFS assembled the local crew and supplied the technical production while ABC retained editorial control over the interview. An experienced location sound recordist, appropriate microphones and careful mixing protected the interview from the difficult exterior noise.
What came out of it.
ABC received organized interview and supporting footage for its editorial workflow. The raw audio made the challenging traffic environment barely perceptible, allowing the story rather than the location limitation to lead.
