A surreal short about emotionally vulnerable adults drawn into Dr. River Tallahassee's self-help session, where a deck-of-cards ritual turns strange and inner-child figures begin appearing in the room.
Project note
The compressed production built a strange therapeutic world through saturated light, practical interiors and a full local crew footprint, with KFS resources helping camera, lighting, audio and grip move quickly.

What the project needed.
Help a compressed Snakebite short-film team build a colourful, controlled interior world quickly, with local gear and crew support ready before the first filming date landed.
What had to work.
The project moved through a short-contest schedule with a strong cast, multiple interiors, saturated colour choices and a full local crew. Lighting, camera, audio and grip support had to stay fast enough for the schedule while still giving the film a finished visual identity.
How KFS handled it.
James pre-lit before the wider team arrived, supported cinematographer Levi Price as B camera / assistant DP, and brought practical KFS-owned gear into the production footprint: RED KOMODO-X, lighting, wireless and boom audio, grip support and the TFPR truck package.
What came out of it.
Midlife Shuffle placed second at the 2026 Snakebite 5-Day Film Challenge and also received Best Story, Best Editing, Best Acting, Best Acting Ensemble and Best Use of Secret Prop recognition, before screening as an Okanagan Screen Awards 2026 official selection and a 2nd Kelowna Independent Film Festival 2026 official selection.
