Narrative Short / Production Support
The Knitting Diaries
A TELUS STORYHIVE short drama by Janalee Budge, centred on a Chinese grandmother, family memory and the hidden histories that can sit beneath an ordinary household.
Project note
The film's period world moved through family kitchens, a convenience-store set and close practical interiors, with KFS support helping the small team keep the day working when location power became unavailable.

What the project needed.
Support a locally made, women-led STORYHIVE short with practical camera, lighting and infrastructure help while Janalee Budge led the film creatively.
What had to work.
A donated convenience-store location became one of the major sets, but the production day lost reliable building power and access to the electrical panel. The set still needed lights, charging, laptops and working production systems while the schedule kept moving.
How KFS handled it.
James routed the working set through the KFS Ford F-150 Lightning's mobile power system, keeping the store day functional while also supporting Artur Gajda's camera department and the lighting needs of the small local crew. The TFPR five-ton grip and lighting truck supplied the grip and lighting package for the compact locations.
What came out of it.
The production kept shooting through the power problem, completed its Vernon short-film shoot, and went on to earn Okanagan Screen Awards recognition including People's Choice, Best Acting Ensemble and 2nd Place in Short Films.
