Why KFS Pricing Has to Watch the Global Signals

KFS is working to keep pricing fair and usable, but production costs still move with currency, fuel, imported gear, food, freight, insurance, software and vendor availability.

The pressure is real, even when the work stays local.

A softer Canadian dollar makes U.S.-priced equipment, software, computers, drives, cases, cables and specialty services more expensive. Fuel volatility affects location days, travel, freight, generators, vehicle movement and delivery. Grocery and catering costs matter because crew still need to eat on long days.

There are also cases where there simply are not good Canadian alternatives for a particular product, platform, part or vendor. When the professional tool chain is priced in U.S. dollars or routed through U.S. suppliers, a Canadian production company has to watch the exchange rate whether it wants to or not.

Pricing pressure is not abstract when a job depends on real lights, cases, vehicles, power, storage, software, insurance and replacement gear.

We are not using uncertainty as an excuse.

KFS is keeping overhead lean, using owned equipment responsibly, sourcing locally where it makes sense, and watching government, union, guild and trade guidance before making heavy-handed changes. The goal is to keep quotes honest and avoid surprise costs late in the process.

We are still here, still working, and still believe the Okanagan can bring more production jobs into the region. That means staying in conversation with local, provincial and national decision-makers, listening to groups like IATSE 891 and ICG 669, and building a production base that can hold up through rougher years.
